Hi, I’m George Keith.
I write personal essays about meaning, memory, and the odd moments that stick with me. I paint still lifes and landscapes in oil, trying to catch a feeling before it fades, even when it comes out messy. This is where I do both.
Writing helps me make sense of things. Painting helps more.
You’ll find essays about childhood, grief, aging, and the strangeness of being alive. You’ll find time-lapse videos of my paintings, the objects that inspire them, and the stories behind each one. Sometimes it’s serious. Sometimes it’s absurd. Always honest.
I’m doing this for my kids. For Clara, my granddaughter. For anyone who wants to know what it looks like when a man sits down and tries to figure it all out, one essay and one canvas at a time.
If that sounds like your kind of thing, stick around.
